Through sharing stories of those affected by medical debt, hosting events to engage our communities, and partnering with medical practioners of a similar mindset, Care Over Collections works to uncover and challenge harmful medical debt practices, while connecting community members with resources and support.

Events

The Care Over Collections Project at Consumers Council of Missouri is hosting two December input sessions to hear directly from people affected by medical debt and medical debt lawsuits. These sessions help us better understand community experiences and shape our outreach and advocacy.

Open House & Happy Hour - December 12, 2025

Time: 3:00–6:00 PM
Location: Korte Board Room @ CIC, 20 S. Sarah Street, St. Louis, MO 63108

Event Description: A drop-in session and happy hour for nonprofit partners, CIC neighbors, and staff. Come meet our team, learn about our work, and share any insights from your clients or communities.

Event Details: Doors open at 3:00 PM; Program starts 4:00 PM; Q&A + Networking at 5:00 PM. Food will be provided.

Community Input Session - December 17, 2025

Time: 6:00–8:30 PM
Location: Korte Board Room @ CIC, 20 S. Sarah Street, St. Louis, MO 63108

Event Description: A focus-group style conversation for individuals directly affected by medical debt, with optional one-on-one story-sharing. Participants who choose to share personal stories will be compensated.

Event Details: Doors open at 6:00 PM; Program starts 6:30 PM; Optional one-on-one story-sharing at 7:30 PM.

Food will be provided.
